State officials gathered to discuss the importance of passing a Net Neutrality law for Connecticut.
Net Neutrality is the principle that governments should mandate Internet service providers to treat all data on the internet the same.
Under the principle, internet providers are unable to block or slow down specific websites and content.
In December, the Federal Communications Commission repealed the law under the direction of President Donald Trump.
"So far we have had an internet that worked for consumers all across the country," says State Sen. Bob Duff, of Norwalk. "If you're a big business or a small business, you have the same access to the same speeds that everyone else does. Whether you're at your home, it doesn't matter if you're at an apartment building, a small home or a large home, you still have access to the same internet speeds."
Sen. Duff has introduced legislation to hold companies to their commitments of the Obama era to not to block websites, throttle speeds, or impose prioritization pricing.
