State police say one person died in a collision on I-84 in Kent Monday.
Officials say it happened near mile marker 61.4 shortly before 2 p.m., causing a portion of I-84 westbound to close for hours. It eventually reopened around 8 p.
"All the tractor-trailers coming off the Carmel exit, once you saw that, you knew something was going on," says Bill, who lives in Dutchess County.
There's no word on what caused the collision.
The identity of the person who died hasn't been released.
People who frequently drive in the area were shocked to hear what happened and to see the major traffic delays that followed.
"It's the first time, I've ever seen anything like this," says Mike, who lives in Putnam County.
News 12 is waiting to hear if anyone else was injured.
