Connecticut state police are mourning the death of one of their own after a veteran trooper died in a car accident during his shift.
Trooper First Class Kevin Miller was a 19-year veteran and had been assigned to Troop C in Tolland.
The crash happened Thursday afternoon on I-84 in Tolland. State police say Miller's cruiser rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was traveling at a slower rate of speed than the flow of traffic.
A procession of state troopers headed to the scene to retrieve Miller's body, and then went to Troop C to pay their respects.
First responders lined up along I-84 to view the procession as it made its way to the medical examiner's office in Farmington.
Miller was a father of two, and is being remembered for his dedication to the job
Condolences from police departments across the state have been pouring in.
Gov. Dannel Malloy has ordered all flags at half-staff in Miller's honor.
