Stew Leonard's is doing its part to ensure people have food this Thanksgiving.
Its annual turkey brigade was held Wednesday at all of its locations, including in Norwalk.
Employees, first responders and officials formed a human assembly line to place the turkey into vehicles which will be delivered to residents, food pantries homeless shelters and charities.
Staff say the event helps those in need and reduces food insecurity.
"We have a charitable organization in each store that receives donation letters throughout the year. It's more on a first come first serve basis, we try not to turn anyone down. Most people who write in a letter get a turkey at least a minimum of four some of them receive up to 32. It depends on the need and the organization they are working with," says Nicole Weiss, store vice president at the Norwalk location.
In total, over 3,000 turkeys were given out.
