'It was a big smack in the face': Teen sentenced in fatal shooting of 12-year-old

The family of a 12-year-old killed in a shooting says one of the juveniles charged in connection should get years, not months, behind bars.
Clinton Howell was shot outside his family's home on Willow Street a week before Christmas. Police say 18-year-old Tajay Chambers is charged with murder in the case.
A 13-year-old was sentenced to 18 months in prison on accessory to murder charges Tuesday in connection to the shooting.
Gamel Dawkins, Howell's brother, says even though the teen did not pull the trigger, the 18-month sentence is too lenient for someone who played a role in his brother's death.
"It was a big smack in the face," says Dawkins. He says living without his brother is a painful experience.
Cynthia Dawkins, Howell's mother, says she is heartbroken by the sentence because the teen will be free in a year and a half but her son is gone forever.
Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez says he feels sorry for the family and strongly opposes the revolving door in the criminal justice system.
A spokesperson for the family of the 13-year-old says the judge was acting within the prescribed state guidelines for sentencing and the decision was fair.
Police say two others were also charged in connection with the case.
