A Mosquito pool tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis in Bethany, according to the Quinnipiack Valley Health District.
However, the type of mosquito it was found in is a Cs. Melanura Mosquito, which according to the CDC almost exclusively feeds on birds.
Quinnipiack Valley Health District says the samples were collected on Sept. 23 and tested positive for the virus.
Two people have already died in Connecticut as a result of EEE, officials say.
Officials are warning the public that mosquitos can still be very active until the first frost.
