Animal shelter: Starving pit bull found in Paterson improving day by day

A starving and abused dog found on the streets of Paterson has been improving every day since she was found, according to the animal shelter caring for her.
Reese, a pit bull-mix, was only 17 pounds when a good Samaritan found and rescued her. The dog was malnourished and unable to walk.
Reese is being cared for by the veterinarians at the Oradell Animal Hospital. They say that she has gained 3 pounds and is now able to walk.
"Today her bloodwork shows that her anemia is improving. She's improving that. So, she came in not able to walk and now, as you guys saw, she was walking, which is great,” says Dr. Amira Guerrero. “She's getting more personable. She's getting more active. She’s interacting more, she's barking. So, she's getting a lot better."

The dog will soon be put up for adoption through the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge.
Reese’s original owner has not been identified.
