Family members of the victims of a car crash in Stratford are reaching out to the community for help as they try to overcome serious injuries.
Sarah Branston says her sister Rose Brewster, her husband Erik Brewster and four passengers were on vacation in Stratford when their minivan was struck by another vehicle Saturday afternoon on River Road in Stratford.
At least 13 people were injured and taken to the hospital. Branston says her 16-year-old niece's boyfriend shattered both his legs and her 12-year-old niece was pinned in the vehicle.
Joe Crisalli works at an Auto Body store in Waterbury and lives in Shelton. Crisalli said he wanted to help Branston because she said she had no money to fly her and her mother out to Stratford to be with the family. He paid to fly them from Florida to Bradley International Airport.
"I try to help out as much as I can. Because I know if it was me and my family, I know I'd want to be there to be with them," Crisalli said.
There is a GoFundMe page for the Brewster family to pay for mounting medical expenses.
