A Stratford family says they prayed for a miracle on Ash Wednesday and their prayers have been answered.
Amber Rogers is disabled and will be getting a low-mileage wheelchair-accessible van through Joe Kaliko at the Needs Clearing House.
Kaliko says the head of the Robert Morris Family Trust local charitable foundation saw News 12's story Wednesday about Rogers' need for a van and decided to donate one through the nonprofit Ride For Kids.
The family's old van, which was purchased through a fundraiser 25 years ago, died in 2016, leaving Rogers and her mom Venus unable to get around. Rogers' father also died in 2016.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal presented the family with a $1,000 check on behalf of the Needs Clearing House.
"We've had a lot of sadness in our lives and this has brought joy for the first time in over three years to our family," said Venus Rogers. "I appreciate and I love you guys and I am so thankful for the blessing that you brought upon our family."
The family has set up a GoFundMe page for Amber Rogers.
