Stratford firefighters are investigating a small electrical fire that left a 51-year-old man dead last night. Officials say George Kalina died while trying to extinguish a small fire at 857 Birdseye St. They say Kalina likely panicked and over-exerted himself as he battled the flames. The 51-year-old managed to put out the fire, but apparently died shortly thereafter. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire and have deemed the home too dangerous for occupancy.
