Street vendors on Fordham Road say there has been an uptick in summonses issued in the area.
"People are out there trying to make a living but they see the sanitation inspectors and sanitation police officers out there enforcing the law going around seizing properties and livelihoods," said Mohamed Attia, managing director of the Street Vendor Project.
The Department of Sanitation says there were over 18,000 calls to 311 related to vending from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. There were 739 calls the year before.
