Children in Norwalk honored a postal worker who is retiring after being on the job for 39 years.

Smitty Payne was celebrated by students at Rowayton Elementary School Friday for reaching this milestone.

His last route included sections of Rowayton, and he also delivered mail to the school.

During Friday's celebration, students performed songs, read poems and letters.

Payne says the school was his first delivery stop of the day, and his favorite. He say's he'll miss it.
