Students traded in their pencils for garbage bags Friday to clean up Orchard Beach in honor of Earth Day.
The Discover Outdoors Foundation, along with approximately 55 student volunteers from around the city, including some from the Bronx Studio School of Writers and Artists, cleaned up Orchard Beach and Palham Bay Park. The foundation works with kids from underserved communities and lets them explore new grounds.
They partnered up with the Good.Clean.Fun Foundation to help teach students about why it's important to keep communities clean while having fun.
