The defense lawyer for a Stamford woman accused of striking and killing two people in a drunken driving accident says they are one step closer to a plea deal.
Police say Candace Blanks hit and killed 22-year-old Lucas Silva and 19-year-old Felipe Chaga in October of 2010 while they were changing a tire on I-95 near exit 11.
Officers say Blanks kept driving until finally stopping at the next exit.
Blanks' attorney says the woman won't plead guilty or not guilty, but instead offer a settlement and then ask the judge for a sentence in the case.
The plea agreement is expected to be presented to the court March 22, which will be followed by sentencing.
