The suspected driver and his passenger in a hit-and-run that left a teenager critically injured appeared before a judge Tuesday.
Police say Ramon Martinez-Urbina, 28, was behind the wheel of a minivan when he struck a teen who was skateboarding near Soundview Avenue in Stamford. It occurred Monday evening.
Officers say the 17-year-old victim was thrown from his skateboard after being hit. The van then went off the road, hit a stone wall and a tree before stopping in a driveway. Martinez-Urbina and his passenger, 20-year-old Alejandro Estrada, then allegedly took off on foot.
Martinez-Urbina faces multiple charges including DUI. At arraignment, the judge asked for more time to review one of Martinez-Urbina's pending cases during recess before setting his bond. Estrada was released on a promise to appear.
