Police are searching for a group of suspects who stole cars from a Darien neighborhood then lead police on a chase.
The incident happened Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. on Goodwives River Road.
Police say a neighbor noticed someone rummaging through their car in their driveway and called police. When police got to the neighborhood, they say they saw several cars speeding away from another home.
Police say two of the cars eventually crashed into each other on Long Neck Point Road nearby, and the suspects started to run away. Police brought in a K-9 to search for the suspects.
Two cars recovered by police were later determined to be stolen from Goodwives River Road. Police say the suspects then got into a third car and tried to ram into a police cruiser before leading officers on a chase.
The chase was broken off in Darien due to public safety reasons.
Police say agencies in other towns are searching for the suspects’ car. Police in Bridgeport say the suspects were seen exiting I-95 at exit 25.
The suspects are still out on the loose, police say.
