A Greenwich mother who gave birth in a New York City hospital when the coronavirus pandemic shared her story with News 12.
"They were barring visitors for births," Layla Lisiewski says. Her son, Luke, was born on March 11.
She says that people couldn't be in the lobby for more than 30 seconds and that there were specific lines formed.
Lisiewski says that at the time, information on the virus was so new. She says she was more worried about leaving the hospital due to the effects the virus could have on her baby.
Luke is Lisiewski's fourth child. She also has one boy and two girls all under the age of 7. She says no one in her family got sick and that she spent the first month after the birth wearing a mask around her baby.
Lisiewski encourages expecting mothers to secure mental health resources and a community to talk them through it. She says Luke is now 2 months old and is wearing 6-month-old clothing.
Lisiewski is a partner in the Local Moms Network, which assists mothers with finding valuable resources.
