Volunteers gathered in Darien Sunday to pack 220,000 meals, which will be sent worldwide to feed hungry children.
The "packing party" was hosted by a Minnesota-based organization called Feed My Starving Children. Volunteers packed meal bags with rice, soy, vegetables and vitamins to send to starving children. Organizers say the meals cost only 17 cents each.
Members of all 12 Darien churches attended the event. Though the destination of the packed meals is uncertain, organizers say they will most likely be sent to the Samoas, Indonesia and the Philippines after the recent earthquakes and tsunami.
