A Greenwich driving school was honored for its longevity Friday.

To celebrate Tom's Driving School being in business for 75 years, town officials presented a proclamation to owner Linda Muccio and president Tom Ferraro Jr. at Town Hall. Their father, Tom Sr. founded the school in 1951 when he was 29 years old.

During Friday's ceremony, Muccio and Ferraro were presented with certificates and medals for being Guinness World Record titleholders for the oldest working driving school instructors.

Tom's Driving School is also longest and oldest driving school in the state.

Prior to them running the business, the siblings attended the school as students. This year marks their 38th year of owning the school. Throughout this time, they had to adapt how they instructed students as cars have evolved and become more technologically advanced.

The siblings say the family orientated business has lasted for this long is because of the care they put into their students becoming good, safe and defensive drivers.

"The reason why we lasted so long is because of the trust people had in our school and made the name as strong as it is. People know us. Once you make your mark and people trust in you, you're there," says Ferraro.

Muccio and Ferraro say they work well together and believe their father would be proud of the legacy they have built.

Although the pair say they have no plans to retire, they do hope their children or grandchildren will take over the business in the future. Muccio says she and her brother enjoy what they do and will continue to do so for as long as they can.

In honor of their anniversary, coupons have been hidden around Greenwich and Stamford, providing $75 off of a full driving course for the drivers.
