A tree that was damaged by the recent storm brought down a live power line in Bridgeport's North End.

A private contractor was cutting down a limb that was entangled with power lines when the live wire snapped, authorities say.

City officials say utility companies need to work quicker to repair storm damage involving their equipment.

One resident says she's had downed power lines in her front yard for two weeks.

"Whoever these wires belong to, no one has come to say anything," says Denise Holly. "No one has come to do anything."
The city has filed a lawsuit against local utility companies.

Mayor Joe Ganim says the suit is meant to fasten repair work and improve communication with customers.
