A Trumbull firefighter saved a family and their dogs from a fire that started in their garage.
It happened just before 4 a.m. Sunday on Haviland Drive.
Shaun Bogen, a town highway maintainer and firefighter with the Long Hill Fire Company, was plowing his route when he saw a house on fire. He radioed his base to alert them and called 911.
Bogen was able to wake up the four residents and three dogs in the home and made sure everyone was outside before the fire department arrived.
Crews found heavy fire in the garage that extended into the home. It was knocked down in under an hour.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Trumbull Fire Marshals Office.
