UConn officials said the Lambda Theta Phi fraternity on campus is suspended and under investigation.
They said State Police arrested the chapter’s president on charges alleging that he engaged in hazing-related behavior at an off-campus residence.
The student was identified as 23-year-old David Vallejo.
UConn police investigated a separate complaint against the same student and arrested him late Tuesday on a warrant with similar charges.
Vallejo is alleged to have held his forearm across the neck of an individual who owed him money, causing the victim to not be able to breathe.
The case is pending, and Vallejo is due to appear in Rockville Superior Court on May 21 in that case.
