Unlicensed Patchogue driver charged after striking 43-year-old pedestrian

The victim, Savier Alverca Jiminez, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries, according to police.

A Patchogue man has been arrested after he allegedly hit a 43-year-old pedestrian while driving without a license.

Suffolk police say Edison Jovanny Morocho Gonzalez was driving a 2018 Honda Civic southbound on Route 112, near Silver Street, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway at approximately 3 a.m.

The victim, Savier Alverca Jiminez, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries, according to police.

Gonzalez, 24, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and multiple other warrants. He is being held overnight and will be arraigned Aug. 17 at the First District Court in Central Islip.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact them at 631-854-8552.
