If you looked up into the sky Wednesday night -- you may have been lucky enough to see an unusually bright streak of light.
Hundreds in Connecticut caught a glimpse of the meteor move through the sky just after 11 p.m.
At Westport Astronomical Society, Shannon Calvert had just finished up a public telescope viewing when the incredible sight showed up. The event was captured by many in New England on dash cams and security videos.
"We had three cameras running -- of course, not in the right direction," says Calvert. "And I look up and we saw a meteor, kind of behind me, shoot that way. And then there was a smoke trail behind it that lasted several minutes."
Calvert says a meteor of that brightness isn't that common in Connecticut, but it's also not too rare.
The next meteor shower to hit will come in a few weeks. But because it'll be a full moon, Calvert says we might not be able to see much of it.
