The father of a 6-year-old girl killed came forward Saturday to talk about his daughter Saturday. He says the world is a better place because his daughter, Emilie, was in it.

The family had just moved to Newtown about eight months ago. Parker says the support of people in the Northeast has been overwhelming.

Also Saturday, friends and family of first-grade teacher Victoria Soto, a victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, gathered for a candlelight vigil near Stratford High School tonight.

Her family says she did everything she could to protect her students.

"She had them huddled in a closet in her classroom, trying to keep them from a spray of bullets and ultimately lost her life while doing so," said James Wiltsie, Victoria's cousin.

Stratford residents say her heroics compelled them to pay their respects.
