Mourners held a vigil Wednesday to honor a woman killed in a car crash caused by a man fleeing police last week in Bridgeport.
Susan Tomczyk, 61, died on Iranistan Avenue when the suspect allegedly sideswiped her car.
Organizers planned two vigils for her Wednesday, one earlier in the day and a second at 6 p.m.
Mayor Joe Ganim offered prayers and comfort at the earlier vigil as residents turned out to support Tomczyk's family. He said he was horrified by images of her car in the aftermath of the crash.
As News 12 Connecticut has reported, police say Tomczyk was an innocent bystander who gave a ride to a disabled neighbor moments before the crash. Two pedestrians were also seriously injured.
Police arrested the accused driver, Joseph Guzman Rivera.
Tomczyk's family is asking for the public's support in paying for her funeral and to help them relocate, as they say they will no longer be able to afford their apartment now that Tomczyk is gone.
