Volunteers say they are worried about the fate of animals at Stamford Animal Care & Control after the mayor told them to stay away two weeks ago.
News 12 reported that the city had launched an investigation earlier this month after allegations that the shelter was placing aggressive animals in adoptive homes.
Ali Gerardi, one of the volunteers, says the shelter is no longer accepting surrenders, leaving the fate of homeless cats and dogs in question.
News 12 tried to talk to paid employees at the facility, but they were not allowed to comment.
