Voters in Bridgeport took to the polls Tuesday, checking yes and passing a referendum that would bring in an additional $2 million to libraries next year.
According to the Connecticut Post, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim calls it a tax increase.
But supporters say the extra funds are needed to open three new branches.
Ganim says it would force him to raise taxes next year to raise the money.
