Summer often brings high humidity in Connecticut — but what is the reason for the condition that brings frizzy hair and a sticky feeling?
While the temperature barely hit 80 degrees Tuesday, the humidity was up. A lot of families spent the day at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk enjoying the summer day.
A common misconception is that high temperatures are required for high humidity.
Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Jonathan Cubit said it doesn’t need to be 90 degrees to be humid. It’s all about the dew point.
"Anywhere from about 55 to 65, you might consider noticeable, to sticky to more muggy. We're really starting to see it creep up compared to what we woke up to this morning," said Cubit.
