This week's "What's Ailing You" looks at aching foot pain.
Dr. Michael Clain, of Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Specialists in Greenwich, says shoes are the main culprit for pain, even in cases when feet are deformed.
Bunions may appear to be bumps growing on the foot, but they're actually bones shifted out of place by frequent wear and tear -- often exacerbated by shoes, Dr. Clain says.
Wearing comfortable shoes or shoe inserts can be useful in reducing pain, he says. But in extreme cases, surgery is an option.
