This week, News 12 Connecticut's What's Ailing You looks at people who want to play sports or be active, but fear a recurrence of back pain.
Some residents feel that they might throw out their back or tighten it while doing physical activity.
Physical therapist Alex Shafiro, of Performance in Westport, says certain stretches can open up the back and prepare the body for more abrupt moves throughout the day.
Shafiro also recommends the simple stretch called child's pose.
Doctors say that if your back pain radiates down your leg, it could be a sign of a disc issue putting pressure on the nerve between the vertebrae.
