Hicksville home struck by lightning in overnight storms, fire officials say
A few lightning strikes were in the area when the call came in.

A home in Nassau County caught fire after it was struck by lightning, fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to 36 Hemp Ln. in Hicksville around 3 a.m.
Hicksville Fire Department Chief Christopher Wright said the fire was mostly contained to the front of the in the attic.
It took crews about an hour to get it fully under control, Wright said.
Wright said firefighters treat possible lightning strikes like any other fire when they respond.
"Once it started, it's all pretty much the same thing," Hicksville Fire Chief Christopher Wright said. "Normally they don't turn into a large fire."
No one was injured, according to officials on the scene.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office is at the home, continuing its investigation, and will confirm whether lightning caused this fire.
