Officials say that preparation began Monday morning in Greenwich for impending snow, sleet and potential ice, starting with about 5,000 gallons of pretreatment being sprayed on the roads.

Greenwich Emergency Management Director Dan Warzoha advises everyone to run their errands early and stay home if possible once the snow hits. News 12 meteorologists say snow is expected in Tuesday morning, then sleet and ice in the afternoon as temperatures drop.

Warzoha says the town is prepared with all hands on deck, including the Parks Department and Trees Division, which plans to have more staff on duty to help clear parking lots and remove tree limbs that could come down.

Some residents say the potential for ice isn't enough to keep them from driving, while others don't want to risk it.

Officials say Greenwich public schools are currently on winter break, which would lead to less cars and buses on the road and hopefully a quicker snow cleanup.
