Bridgeport parents rally for better education for non-English speaking students

Bridgeport parents rallied outside City Hall Thursday for better education for their children.
Local community organizations and parents have formed an English Language Learners Students Success Coalition.
They say non-English speaking families face language barriers in accessing quality education,
"All students deserve the same treatment, the same equitable education and all parents, regardless of their native tongue, immigration status or financial status, should be able to participate in their same of that all other parents are able to in their child's education," said Luis Ortiz, who is part of the group.
The group wants to introduce the Parent's Bill of Rights for Connecticut English Language Learners to demand Connecticut Public Schools provide interpretation services.
