A woman who was pregnant with twins was found dead outside of her home on Sunday, according to Bridgeport police.
Authorities say the woman was an apparent victim of a drug overdose.
Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez says the victim had an argument with her husband and then left their Berkeley Place home.
When the woman's husband woke up Sunday morning and saw she was not home, he immediately called police. When they arrived, they discovered her body outside of the home.
Police say they will be working with the State's Attorney's Office to hold the woman's drug dealer responsible for her death.
Community activist Jorge Cruz says he is hoping the case will shed light on a dark issue he believes is often ignored until it's too late.
"I'm hoping and praying that this lady's tragedy will open up the eyes here in Bridgeport," he says. "Not only the leaders but also the people that live within our city, that we have to take charge."
The victim's identity has not yet been released.
