Bridgeport has a new, temporary superintendent of schools.
The Board of Education picked Paul Vallas to take on the role starting Jan. 2.
Officials say Vallas recently worked in the New Orleans public school system following Hurricane Katrina.
They say he will hold the position for a year, or until a permanent replacement is named.
