A recent murder in Bridgeport has inspired a group of residents to band together and speak out against the violence that has been occuring in their city.Mattie Pettway lost a loved one because of the recent killing and in a separate case lost a nephew due to another act of violence.Pettway feels that parents need to show their children more love and stop letting the streets raise them."My son and his friends, they were at the club and somebody shot at them," said Arlene Mercer, a Bridgeport resident. Mercer goes on to say her son had to have surgery and his friend succumbed to his injuries.Pettway, Mercer and other Bridgeport residents are joining together to put pressure on lawmakers to put an end to the violence.
