Four items were announced Wednesday that were voted on by community members to be the most deserving of funding from Rep. Andrew Cohen's budget.
Rep. Cohen announced the participatory budget results at a community event in Woodlawn.
Votes were counted for almost a full year.
Cohen says initiatives like this really helps get people get involved in the community.
"It engages people because they're interested in projects in their own community," he says. "Even if they're not interested in who's representing them in Albany, they're interested in their library and that's the part that gets people engaged."
Cohen says he will also be getting capital funds to go toward installing new seating in the auditoriums at P.S. 280 and M.S. 80.
