A Brunswick High School senior was recently promoted to Eagle Scout after completing a yearlong community service project.

Reed Gilbert provided his services aiding park managers at Babcock Preserve. Gilbert came up with the project after noticing that many hikers would get lost while traversing the seven-mile trail system.

In working with Greenwich Park Operation Manager Darrin Wigglesworth, Gilbert helped install wooden post markers with metal QR codes to help hikers find their way. The markers allow hikers to tell emergency services exactly where they are in the park system.
