A South Bronx company is getting major props for not only brewing up local business, but also for caring for the environment.
Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. gave a special proclamation to the makers of Budweiser for its Anheuser-Busch distribution center in Hunts Point, which is an eco-friendly, silver LEED certified building.
Diaz recognized the facility for limiting its pollution in an area where asthma rates are especially high, and for helping to create jobs and generate taxes locally. He said it's another example of what he calls the "new Bronx."
Representatives for Anheuser-Busch say that the 200,000-square foot facility, built in 2007, employs more than 400 people and is currently looking to hire.
Diaz's visit to the Budweiser center was part of Bronx Week's Business Day celebrations.
