(05/18/07) THE BRONX ? Residents in one section of the Bronx say a developer is simply ignoring new zoning laws in their neighborhood.
The area, located between Bronx River Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway, was recently rezoned to preserve the character of the mostly one and two-story family homes. However, residents say a developer has continued working on a four-story, eight-unit structure at 1479 Rosedale Avenue despite the change.
The site has been boarded up, blocking News 12 The Bronx?s cameras from getting a good look. However, residents showed News 12 The Bronx photos they claim are proof the developer has ignored zoning laws.
The Department of Buildings recently issued the developer a stop-work order. However, the two sides are in talks about continuation of the project.
