Some businesses in Connecticut will reopen today with new safety protocols in place nearly two months after shutting their doors or limiting their service because of the coronavirus.
Businesses that will reopen include some retail stores, shopping malls, restaurants, zoos, and aquariums.
There will be a number of new protocols in place for businesses like restaurants which will only offer outdoor dining or continue to offer takeout.
Social distancing must be maintained, and masks must be worn, unless when eating or drinking, according to the state.
State officials warn that along with the reopening will come an increase in coronavirus cases which is why they say the public health measures will continue to be in place.
Local and district health departments can step in if the protocols aren't being followed at businesses, officials say.
Gov. Lamont says he is "cautiously confident" and that we can't let our guard down.
