Easton developer Steve Shapiro is making a fresh push for a $50 billion tunnel and bridge connecting Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Long Island, saying it should complement the state's $1.6 billion rail modernization plan.
While supporters say the project could vastly improve commutes and generate economic growth, some top state leaders have dismissed the proposal as a "nonstarter" due to its cost and environmental concerns.
