Damaged overhead wires near the Cos Cob station in Greenwich led to significant travel delays and disruptions for some Metro-North riders.
Eastbound trains have resumed stopping at Cos Cob, Riverside and Old Greenwich, but there were still some delays of about 20 minutes on the New Haven line early Thursday evening. By 9 p.m., officials said service on the New Haven line was operating on or close to schedule.
Service directly to New Canaan from Grand Central Terminal was suspended, and customers were told to transfer at Stamford for service to New Canaan.
Metro-North says the downed wires have been fixed, and trains should gradually get back on schedule throughout the evening. Officials are investigating the cause of the damage.
