Saturday was a big day for a group of newly-minted home health aides in Bridgeport. The young workers received their certificates through Danae's Training Center at a cap-and-gown ceremony at the City Council Chambers on Lyon Terrace.
School owner Patty Newton-Foster said it felt great to see the young healthcare workers graduate.
"I cried. I cried because I know that it was four weeks of training, and any obstacle that can come in their way did," she said. "Nine students started and seven completed it, so I'm very happy with that."
Newton-Foster said there is a high demand for entry-level health care workers across the tri-state area amid an ongoing shortage.
