The Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic Schools superintendent announced that will be optional indoors and in classrooms this fall with social distancing measures decreased.
The superintendent said he decided not to wait for state guidance, citing the state's low positivity rate and 90% of the diocese's school staff being vaccinated as his reason why.
He says the fall plan could change should there be a spike in cases.
The governor previously said masks must still be worn through the end of this past school year, which only recently ended.
The hope is that masks won't be needed come fall if most students are vaccinated.
No guidance has been given as of yet.
