? As the price for a gallon of unleaded hovers above the $3 mark, Connecticut drivers are taking drastic measures to save cash.
Many say they are hitting the road less, slowing down when they do drive and comparing prices. AAA says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.95 in the area, but many gas stations in southwestern Connecticut have signs that read $3.03 and higher.
Economists predict prices will continue to rise due to instability in oil-producing countries, new regulations requiring oil be blended with more expensive ethanol and other factors.
