A Fairfield teen is honoring a family tradition of preparing and donating Easter baskets to those in need through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Meehans started putting together Easter baskets 14 years ago and have donated 700 baskets to families in need over the years in collaboration with Operation Hope of Fairfield.
Molly Meehan says the tradition started when she was a child because her mother noticed she had too much money in her piggy bank so her mom wanted to put some away for savings and the rest for charity.
By middle school, Molly took over the project completely and began raising money all on her own.
The Fairfield Warde senior says she is off to college in the fall so she's passing the torch.
"It's been a great community my whole life and it's kind of nice to pay them back for everything they've done for me. It's just a really good feeling," Meehan says.
