A Bronx family is suing a nursing home and a former employee after a video surfaced showing their loved one being assaulted in the facility.
Norma Rosario's family says they are suing 47-year-old Rosemarie Brooks, the employee who was arrested in the assault seen in the video. They are also suing White Plains Nursing Home Inc., which runs the Bronx Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, for monetary damages.
The family claims that Rosario, 73, needed staples put in her head after being thrown into the hallway wall on Jan. 4.
The family's attorney would not disclose the monetary damages sought, but says it's substantial and appropriate. The attorney says the facility breached its duty to keep its patients safe. He also says Brooks tried to cover up what happened in an incident report.
The administrator of the facility has not returned News 12 The Bronx's request for comment.
Meanwhile, Rosario is gradually transitioning and learning to love her new residence at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.
