? Firefighters were called to a home on Swanson Street in Stratford to battle a large fire Thursday night.
The fire broke out at around 8 p.m. When firefighters arrived they say flames were shooting out of the front and side of the house. Firefighters needed to use an engine ladder to reach the flames, which melted vinyl siding above the second-floor windows.
One witness saw the fire and rushed to make sure no one was in the home.
?When I got to the door, I [kind of] felt the door, it wasn?t too hot,? says Auggie Roma. ?I banged on the door, nobody answered the door so I kicked the door in and walked around the first floor to see if there was anybody there.?
Investigators say no one was home at the time of the fire. No one was injured. The fire marshal is investigating.
